PUBLIC SCHOOLS
No. 6 Wellington 24 – No. 7 Palm Beach Gardens 13
Current records: Wellington (6-3; 3-1 in District 9-8A play), Palm Beach Gardens (4-4; 1-2 in District 9-8A)
FHSAA playoff tracker situation for Wellington: With a key district win tonight over Palm Beach Gardens, the current No. 7 seed in Region 3-8A looks to be in good shape heading into its bye in Week 10. The next and final regular season game against Palm Beach County & current Region 3-8A No. 1 Atlantic may be a critical one for Wellington, a team that should look at the Week 11 home tilt as an absolute must-win situation and not take anything lightly at all.
FHSAA playoff tracker situation for Palm Beach Gardens: At 4-4, the Gators will not qualify for the Class 8A playoffs this year, due to its current Region 3-8A seed rank of No. 17 (34.14 points). But they can potentially play a spoiler role in Week 10 against current Region 3-8A No. 3/4/5 Palm Beach Central, a team that’s looking to clinch another District 9-8A title within the next eight days.
No. 8 Santaluces 42 – Spanish River 0
Current records: Santaluces (5-3; 3-4-1 in District 10-8A), Spanish River (0-8; 0-5 in District 10-8A)
FHSAA playoff tracker situation for both Santaluces and Spanish River: The Chiefs have played much better than expected this season. But for some reason, our current No. 8 team in Palm Beach County is too far behind in Region 3-8A to catch any of the playoff contenders this year (No. 14; 35.14 points). As for the Sharks (No. 24; 27.86 points), their focus should solely be on having a positive finish these next two weeks against playoff contenders Park Vista (8A; Week 8 makeup game; Monday, Oct. 22) and Forest Hill (7A; Week 11).
Boca Raton 41 – John I. Leonard 0
Current records: Boca Raton (5-4; 3-2 in District 10-8A), John I. Leonard (1-7; 1-4 in District 10-8A)
FHSAA playoff tracker situation for Boca Raton and John I. Leonard: At 5-4, Boca Raton will not be in contention for a 8A playoff spot this year (No. 18 in Region 3-8A; 34.00 points), but can play spoiler to Atlantic’s undefeated regular season dreams in Week 10. And at 1-7, John I. Leonard (No. 21 in Region 3-8A; 31.71 points) can focus on finishing the season strong and a much better showing next year with its young team.
Suncoast 44 – Village Academy 7
Current records: Suncoast (3-6; 1-2 in District 15-5A), Village Academy (0-8)
FHSAA playoff tracker situations for Suncoast and Village Academy: Neither team will qualify for the postseason this year, as Suncoast (No. 16 in Region 4-5A; 30.75 points) and Village Academy (No. 8 in Region 4-2A; 28.57 points) are way too far behind to catch other teams currently in playoff contention this late in the regular season. Both teams will need to focus on finishing their respective seasons on a high note and focus on getting much better in 2019.
