The West Boca Bulls, after a loss last weekend, are off and running once again.
Facing Olympic Heights on Thursday night, West Boca rumbled their way to a 57-0 victory over the Lions. The Bulls’ offense was dominant, while their defensive line helped to shut down anything the Lions tried to do. West Boca also got significant contributions from special teams, as the Bulls returned two punts for touchdowns.
West Boca now moves to 4-1 on the season, while Olympic Heights falls to 2-3.
West Boca Scores in a Multitude of Ways
In their game against Olympic Heights, West Boca scored points in almost every aspect of the game.
The Bulls scored the vast majority of their points on the ground with a variety of players. Jacorrion McCrary and Anderson Gracilien kicked things off with rushing touchdowns, respectively, while Wally Harmon made it a 21-0 game with one of the best plays of his 2026 season. Breaking multiple tackles and running through multiple defenders, Harmon showed off his full skill set to extend the Bulls’ lead. McCrary, outside of his touchdown, looked dynamic on all of his touches once again on Thursday night.
The points did not stop there for West Boca. Trey Moran, on a play that should have likely been a passing touchdown, turned a broken play into an impressive touchdown run. Wally Harmon added a 2nd touchdown shortly after Moran’s big play, returning a punt for a touchdown. Moran, taking over on offense, found a wide-open Nomo Davis for a 40+ yard passing touchdown to extend the lead to 42-0. Whether on the ground or through the air, the quarterback was once again a key factor for the Bulls having a great night on offense.
Even when the backups came in for the Bulls, the points did not stop flowing. Alex Moran showed off some impressive strength and contact balance to power into the end zone for a touchdown. The scoring play came after the quarterback made some good throws on a long offensive drive. And to cap it all off, wideout Rasheed Lamar had an impressive punt return touchdown to give West Boca over 50 points in the game. He showed off great agility, athleticism, and skill on the play; in a game with so many great moments, Lamar’s punt return touchdown was one of the best.
A week after losing their first game of the season, West Boca rebounded in a massive way on the offensive side of the ball. They ran the ball at a high rate, hit passes at key moments, and generated plenty of big plays. In other words, the Bulls got everything they could have possibly wanted out of this unit on Thursday night. If West Boca’s offense continues to play at this level, they should have plenty of great games in the 2nd half of their 2026 season.
The Defense Earns a Shutout
Pitching a shutout against Olympic Heights, West Boca’s dominance stemmed from the trenches.
Javion Herrington was consistently in the backfield on Thursday night, mainly as a pass rusher. He showed great power and hand usage, along with some bend + athleticism around the corner against offensive tackles. Max Reid, as he has done all season long, made countless plays at linebacker for the Bulls’ defense. He recorded a key 3rd-down sack, and in a rare moment on offense, caught a two-point conversion late in the game.
The most dominant player on the unit, though, was Makarion Owens. Notching two sacks, a separate tackle for loss, and a pass breakup, Owens was everywhere on Thursday night. He displayed a skill set that has improved at a rapid rate and a high motor on every play. Even on the plays where he did not record the tackle, Owens caused pressure on the quarterback and helped his fellow defensive linemen make plays. Owens, no matter the opponent, has found success consistently in 2026. He is truly a blast to watch, and I am very intrigued to see how his progression continues over the rest of the season.
Against Olympic Heights, West Boca showed the depth and the upside of its defense. Plenty of players made an impact in the trenches outside of Herrington and Owens. The secondary, while not tested too much in this game, did play some solid coverage and made plenty of key tackles. Along with the pure talent of the unit, the Bulls had the execution of a high-level team on defense once again on Thursday night. If they continue to play at this level, West Boca will continue to win plenty of games.
Other Notes
- Billy Clancy III, while not registering a touchdown, made multiple big plays for West Boca against Olympic Heights. The route running and speed, even on a muddy field, were on full display for the 2027 wideout. No matter who Clancy III faces, expect him to make big plays and help the West Boca offense move the football.
- DeKobi Airall ripped off another big run that just missed being a touchdown. The first-year running back has shown impressive speed, elusiveness, and even strength in limited touches this season. For a program that has churned out running back talent in recent seasons, Airall looks to be one of the next players in the West Boca pipeline.
- He was under duress constantly in this game, but Olympic Heights quarterback Cody Waters showed some dynamic skill on Thursday night. Waters displayed some nice speed on run plays and hit some big throws down the field to his wideouts. It was not a perfect showing, but the Lions’ signal caller showed that he is more than capable of playing the position at a high level for his team.
- Olympic Heights wideouts Yohann Grantilin and David Leonard made some impressive catches this week deep down the field. Over the rest of the 2026 season, both players look set to play key roles in the offense as weapons for Cody Waters.
