West Boca Raton will welcome nationally ranked No. 7 Chaminade-Madonna to open the 2025 high school football season in a highly anticipated Kickoff Classic. While the matchup will not count toward either team’s official record, its significance for the South Florida football community cannot be overstated.
Anytime Broward County’s finest square off against the top program from Palm Beach County, it’s more than just a preseason tune-up—it’s a showcase of talent, pride, and regional bragging rights. This clash between two reigning state champions promises to draw major attention from fans, scouts, and media alike.
West Boca’s rise to the top has been nothing short of remarkable. Just two seasons ago, the Bulls struggled through a 1-9 campaign. Last year, they completed a storybook turnaround, going a perfect 15-0 and capturing the program’s first-ever state championship—the first by any Palm Beach County team in a decade. Under head coach Dylan Potts, the Bulls have quickly transformed from an afterthought into one of Florida’s must-watch powerhouses.
Leading West Boca’s attack is University of Miami commit Javian Mallory, a versatile playmaker who can change a game in an instant. He’s joined by an arsenal of future college standouts, including Jaydin Broadnax, Xavier Reid, Demetrius Geathers Jr., and Omari McNeal, giving the Bulls plenty of offensive weapons to test Chaminade’s defense.
But Chaminade-Madonna, a perennial national contender, brings back star power of its own—headlined by its explosive running back, a University of Texas commit who was one of the most dominant rushers in Florida last season. The Lions also return last year’s team leaders in passing yards, rushing yards, receiving yards, and sacks per game, making them dangerous on both sides of the ball.
With that much talent in the backfield for both teams, tonight’s outcome may come down to which side can establish the run and control the tempo. If West Boca’s offensive line can create lanes for Mallory and company, the Bulls could keep Chaminade’s high-powered offense on the sidelines. On the other hand, if Chaminade’s Texas-bound tailback finds his rhythm early, the Lions’ balanced attack could prove too much to handle.
Either way, the 2025 high school football season is kicking off with a heavyweight battle that will set the tone for the months to come—and possibly give fans a preview of December football.
