Westlake hosted Cedar Ridge at Chaparral Stadium on Friday, Oct. 30, and defeated the Raiders 56-21 to secure the District 25-6A championship and hand Cedar Ridge its first loss of the season. The Chaparrals delivered a dominant performance on offense, defense and special teams, controlling the matchup between two of the district’s top teams. Westlake improved to 8-1 overall and finished district play undefeated at 5-0. While Cedar Ridge fell to 8-1 and 4-1 in district play.

The matchup began with Cedar Ridge taking an early lead after quarterback Dylan Snoga connected with Jace Allen on a 16 yard touchdown pass, giving the Raiders a 7-0 advantage. After the Chaparrals blocked a Cedar Ridge punt, they capitalized on the short field with a nine-yard touchdown run from running back C.J. Jones to tie the game. After an interception from Keenan Gotcher, 3 plays later C.J. Jones scored again on a one-yard run to give Westlake a 14-7 lead. Quarterback Patton Jones extended the advantage with an eight-yard touchdown pass to Nash Chapman early in the second quarter, putting the Chaparrals ahead 20-7.

The game took an unexpected turn when a power outage at Chaparral Stadium forced both teams to suspend play with 8:37 remaining in the second quarter. After a delay of approximately 16 hours, the game resumed Saturday at noon with Westlake holding a 20-7 lead. The Chaparrals immediately continued their momentum after a made field goal to push the score to 21-7. A forced fumble on Cedar Ridge quarterback Snoga resulted in a fumble recovery touchdown by Rhett Henry, extending the lead to 28-7 before halftime. The defensive touchdown gave Westlake another scoring opportunity and established further control over the game.

Westlake’s offense continued to produce after the restart, scoring 28 points in the second half. Patton Jones connected with Rhett Jenkins on a 44-yard touchdown pass early in the third quarter, extending the lead to 35-7. Cedar Ridge responded with a 37-yard touchdown reception by Zaccai Williams, but Westlake quickly answered. Jones broke free for a 63-yard run to set up another touchdown before scoring on a three-yard run, recording his third rushing touchdown of the game. Chase Brodhead added to the Chaparrals’ lead with a 50-yard touchdown run on the following possession, putting Westlake ahead 49-14 heading into the fourth quarter.

According to the game statistics reported by MaxPreps, Cedar Ridge quarterback Dylan Snoga completed 20 of 32 passes for 313 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Wide receiver Jace Allen recorded 91 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while T. Harrison led the Raiders with 143 receiving yards on 10 receptions. Cedar Ridge struggled to establish its rushing attack, finishing with just 61 rushing yards. Westlake’s offensive production was led by C.J. Jones, who finished with 88 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Patton Jones added 142 passing yards and two touchdown passes.

Defensively, Westlake made several important stops that prevented Cedar Ridge from building offensive momentum. The Chaparrals blocked a punt, recorded an interception and forced multiple turnovers on downs. The defensive line also limited Cedar Ridge’s rushing production and generated pressure throughout the matchup. Cedar Ridge added a 51-yard touchdown reception by Allen late in the fourth quarter, but Westlake had already established a commanding lead. Isaiah Mills scored on a 10-yard rushing touchdown earlier in the quarter, bringing the score to 56-14 before Cedar Ridge’s final touchdown made it 56-21.

The victory marked a significant accomplishment for Westlake, which secured the District 25-6A championship. The Chaparrals improved to 8-1 overall and extended their winning streak following consecutive victories over Lake Travis and Cedar Ridge. After handing the Raiders their first loss of the season and delivering a complete performance across all three phases, Westlake will look to carry its momentum into its regular season finale against Stony Point on Friday, Nov. 6, as the Chaparrals prepare for the postseason.
