Where’s Home?? Xavion Griffin weighs in on his recruiting process

VERO BEACH – Xavion “Tutu” Griffin is counting down the days until commitment day.

The star defensive back from Vero Beach announced he will be committing on July 31 via his social media accounts.

Griffin has received eight Division I offers to choose from.

Here is the full list of schools that have offered Griffin:

•Pittsburgh
•Liberty
•Rhode Island
•Middle Tennessee State
•Western Kentucky
•Bethune Cookman
•Georgia State
•University of South Florida

Tutu has also told me that he has narrowed his list down from five to a final top three: Western Kentucky, Pitt and USF.

When asked about what he looked for in his school of choice, Tutu said:

“The biggest thing I looked for in my future school is the sense of family.” Griffin said. “I want to go somewhere that I know I can make an impact playing football, in the classroom and in the community.”

Griffin on Western Kentucky:

“Everything,” he stated. “Literally the vibe, the people. Just feeling like I was at home was the biggest thing for me.”

Griffin on Pitt:

“The vibe at Pitt was amazing!” Griffin said. “I loved being out there, it was an amazing experience! Pittsburgh is a beautiful city!”

Griffin on USF:
“I loved being at USF!” Griffin said. “The possibility of staying close to my family and playing Division I football is something that I’ve always wanted.”

During his junior season at Centennial, Tutu Griffin took the Treasure Coast by storm, recording:

142 Receiving Yards

38 Total Tackles

5 Pass Deflections

2 Pass Breakups

5 Interceptions

2 Completions Allowed

2 Forced Fumbles

5 Blocked Field Goals

At the beginning of 2023, Griffin announced his transfer from Centennial to Vero Beach.

When asked about his goals for his upcoming senior season at Vero, Griffin said:

“My senior season goal is to lead my team on and off the field.” Griffin said. “Even though I haven’t been at Vero for a long time, I’ve already formed close relationships with my teammates. The goal for this team is to leave a lasting legacy on this program.”
