News broke last night when the Las Vegas Raiders released star defensive lineman and former Miami Dolphin, Christian Wilkins in a surprising move.
For context, reports say the Raiders cut Wilkins due to how he was treating his rehab on his foot that he injured in 2024. Christian Wilkins, who was a free agent signed by the Raiders, only played in five games in 2024. Because of this, the Raiders voided $35.2 million of guaranteed money left on Wilkins contract. Wilkins is now filing a grievance with the NFLPA.

Seeing this news break, many Dolphin fans are pushing for the team to bring the former first-round pick back to Miami. A defensive line with Wilkins, Kenneth Grant, Zach Sieler, Chop Robinson, and Jaelan Phillips would be very exciting, but is it realistic?
I believe the Dolphins do NOT need to bring Wilkins back. Yes, it would be great to see Wilkins and Sieler side by side again, but it does not need to happen. Wilkins turns thirty in December and is already dealing with a significant injury. The ‘Fins selected three defensive tackles in this past Draft; the defensive trenches are covered with rookie Kenneth Grant and Zach Sieler leading the way.
The Dolphins need to solidify their cornerback situation. They are bringing in free agent cornerback CJ Henderson for a workout due to Artie Burns unfortunate injury that will have him out for the season. Miami should continue to let Grant develop, give Sieler an extension (which will help our cap situation), while shopping for corners. Our cornerback room without question is suspect and that needs all the Dolphins attention now.

Again, it would be fun and interesting to bring Wilkins back, but it is not needed since Miami has addressed the defensive trenches. Shop for veteran corners, save money, and give Zach Sieler an extension which he deserves. Sadly Christian Wilkins, it is a no for me.
