Coral Springs, FL – What a week its been for Head Coach Stefan Whittingham and his Coral Glades boys basketball program. Last night, the Jaguars cruised to an 83-61 win over Park Vista in the 7A-13 District Championship.
This gives Coral Glades its second-ever district championship (The first coming under Coach “Ham” in 2023). The Jaguars head to the State Tournament for the third straight year and will face a familiar foe: Miami Palmetto. In 2023, Palmetto defeated Coral Glades 69-48 in the regional quarterfinals game.
What’s different this time around? Not much, Both squads won their districts in 2023, lost in their district semifinals in 2024, and bounced back to win again in 2025. However, the previous regional quarterfinal matchup was hosted by a 24-4 Palmetto team, facing Coral Glades who was 18-9 in their first season under Coach Ham. Previously having one winning season in the five years prior.
This year could very much be different. Coral Glades is undefeated in the Jungle this season and is carrying tons of momentum. From going 3-1 at the Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas, to running through the other schools in Coral Springs, and reaching the BCAA Big 8 for the first time since 2008, The Jaguars are ready to strike in 7A Region 4.
In addition to all of the team’s accomplishments this season, Head Coach Stefan Whittingham became the fastest coach in Coral Glades history to win 50 games after defeating Boca Raton in the District Semis. The program is 51-31 in his tenure and this is the school’s only time seeing real success in their boys’ basketball program. Before the start of the state tournament. Coach Ham is three wins away from becoming the winningest Head Coach in Coral Glades history, in just three seasons.
“This so far has to be the best Coral Glades team in history,” Said Coach Ham. With so many storylines to be set these playoffs, Can the Jaguars make it to Lakeland and cement their coach in the record books?
