​The Florida Gators’ 2024-25 men’s basketball team is full of players with strong ties to the Sunshine State. Whether they grew up in Florida or played high school ball here, these guys have played big roles in the team’s success this season. Let’s look at each of their journey’s here

Walter Clayton Jr.

From: Lake Wales, FL

Transfer from: Iona
Walter has been one of the Gators’ top players, averaging over 17 points a game. His difficult shot-making in the clutch has will the Gators to big-time tournament wins.

Sam Alexis

From: Apopka, FL

Transfer from: Chattanooga
Sam is a strong, 6’8″ forward who returned to his home state this season. He’s brought energy to the Gators’ frontcourt and added important depth off the bench.

Denzel Aberdeen

From: Orlando, FL

High School: Dr. Phillips
Denzel has been a solid player off the bench, giving the team defense and hustle. He grew up playing ball for Dr. Phillips HS in Orlando and reached two state championships, winning one in 2021.

Bennett Andersen

From: Tampa, FL

High School: Jesuit
As a grad student, Bennett brings leadership and experience, showing how Florida-grown talent can stick around and make an impact.

Isaiah Brown

From: Orlando, FL

High School: Orlando Christian Prep

Cooper Josefsberg

From: Miami, FL

High School: Riviera Prep

Kevin Pazmino

From: Weston, FL


High School: Cypress Bay

Alijah Martin

While not a Florida Native, Alijah spent a few years at FAU, including being a part of their 2023 Final Four Run. In the Final Four game against Auburn, he scored 17 points, including highlight-reel dunks. Martin will be a big contributor in the championship tonight for the Gators.


These young men from the Sunshine State have not only showcased their individual talents but have also contributed significantly to the team’s culture and success. Their collective efforts have been key in the Gators’ pursuit of championship glory this season.

The Gators will take on the Houston Cougars Tonight at 8:50 p.m. for the National Championship.
