PALM BEACH GARDENS – He’s a baller, a gentleman, and a scholar.

Daniel McCullon is a shining star at anything he puts his mind to. We have seen greatness from him on more than one occasion this past season.

The Benjamin two-way player had a stellar senior campaign with the following statistics: 837 yards, 12 touchdowns on offense; three interceptions and six pass breakups on defense. He also finished the year as a team leader and captain on both sides of the ball.

Four colleges have been impressed with McCullon’s sheer versatility on the field and excellence in the classroom, as evidenced by his 3.2 GPA and 30 ACT score. The No. 1-ranked DB/WR and No. 21 overall player in Palm Beach County has offers right now from Columbia, Brown, Florida Tech, and St. Anselem College.

To be honest, McCullon is going to be quite thorough when it comes to evaluating all four schools. This is how he operates, and he’s going to ensure that it’s the right fit for him.

“A lot of schools started to recruit me a little later because of my success this past season in my senior year,” the 5-foot-11, 185-pound team leader said. “It’s still just going through the process trying to make the best decision for me. I’ve always viewed my college decision as being one that will impact my life for the next 40 years, and not just the next four.”

McCullon is thinking about the possibility of majoring in business, with an emphasis on marketing and communication. He might also minor in psychology.

“I’m not 100 percent set on it yet,” McCullon said. “But that’s definitely a good idea of what areas I’ll be concentrating in.”

At least two of McCullon’s Benjamin teammates have been raving about what he can do for a college team.

“He’s the real deal,” Benjamin senior defensive end Daymon Cantave said. “Whoever snags him is getting a steal.”

“He’s certified,” Benjamin senior defensive back/wide receiver Roshaune Downie said. “Real baller and got the grades!”

Benjamin’s signing ceremony will take place on Thursday (Feb. 6), according to McCullon. Is he going to make his final decision then? Or will he wait until later?

“I’m still unsure,” McCullon said. “We will see!”
