JACKSONVILLE – We had a few flag football teams from both Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast at the Jaguars Females in Flag Showcase yesterday (Feb. 19).

Representing our area were the following:

•Oxbridge Academy

•Dwyer

•Centennial

•Fort Pierce Central

Oxbridge Academy flag football head coach Remington Young brought along with him the following players to TIAA Bank Stadium:

•Liani Gil (2025)

•Chloe Reimer (2025)

•Taje Warrick (2023)

Young shared his experience with his flag football players and how they performed at the showcase.

“My experience with the girls was really great,” Young said. “Of course everyone there was great. I saw a lot of great talent from schools all over the state. College coaches scouting players. From walking into this program having to have seniors beg others to play now, we have built a program. We have two teams and 34 girls. And now they’re willing to travel four hours to a showcase. Like most people say, trust the process. Oxbridge flag football is there.”

Young went further.

“My senior Taje, she did a great job on her defense drills,” My sophomore Chloe had some great routes and caught a nice spin move to score on a drill. My athlete Liani had great flag pulling drills, a score in the run drill, and a score on 1-on-1’s.”

Young on Gil in particular:

“I run a route called a chair route,” Young said. “I tell my players it will work if ran correctly. I sat on the sideline watching the route Liani gave the quarterback and I told the coach besides me, I hope she trust me and will go with a route we practice. She surprised me and ran it for a score. She showed me the trust is there.”

Fort Pierce Central flag football head coach Nick Clements brought along with him the following players to the showcase:

•Tajeyah Chance (2025)

•Whitney D’Haiti (2023)

•Alexandra Goncalves (2023)

•Alyssa Llanos (2024)

•Serenity Marte (2024)

•Adrienne Rivera (2025)

•Ariel Williams (2023)

He spoke on behalf of his girls athletes and others who were in attendance.

“They brought the energy,” Clements said. “Whether it was warm-ups or 1-on-1’s, they competed with maximum effort and represented our area well.”

Centennial head coach Brenton Kappler brought win him one standout player from his team:

•Gabriela Pastrana (2025)

Gabriela’s father, Juan G. Pastrana, spoke on this experience.

“By the looks of it the girls all had a great time,” Juan said. “They gave out gear and took pictures for the girls. The event was very organized and was very beneficial for all the girls there. The coaches were supportive, along with all of the other athletes. College coaches came out to speak and were very interactive. They were very open with the girls with what they’re looking for and expect of the young female athletes.”

NFL Hall of Famer Tony Boselli provided some opening remarks to kickstart the event. This served as motivation for the girls to do well and enjoy the experience as a whole.

Young showed his appreciation for how it all turned out.
