TREASURE COAST – Now that all of the Week 1 games are far enough in the rearview mirror, we can celebrate what our players and coaches have achieved.

We have assembled eight (8) weekly categories for our nominees and winners. They are in the following categories:

•Team of Week 1

•Coach of Week 1

•MVP of Week 1

•Lineman of Week 1

•Offensive Player of Week 1

•Defensive Player of Week 1

•Breakthrough Player of Week 1

•Special Teams Player of Week 1

And with that, let us celebrate our Week 1 honorees.

PLEASE NOTE: Vero Beach was the biggest winner here, as it captured out of eight total categories for Week 1. The Fighting Indians made this happen due to their 19-13 home win over the Miami Northwestern Bulls on Friday, Aug. 25.

•Team of Week 1: Vero Beach

•Coach of Week 1: Lenny Jankowski

•MVP of Week 1: Tyler Aronson (Vero Beach 2024 quarterback)

•Offensive Player of Week 1: George Roberts (Treasure Coast 2024 running back)

•Defensive Player of Week 1: Xavion “Tutu” Griffin (Vero Beach 2024 defensive back)

•Breakout Player of Week 1: Zachery Josue (Treasure Coast 2024 defensive lineman)

•Lineman of Week 1: Tarvos “TJ” Alford (Vero Beach 2025 linebacker)

•Special Teams Player of Week 1: Elvick Previlma (Jensen Beach 2024 athlete)

Aronson recapped his team’s six-point win over Miami Northwestern. He also touched on his MVP of Week 1 honor, plus Vero Beach’s five overall superlative wins from Week 1.

“I’m super grateful to say the least,” Aronson said. “I have such a great group of guys around me. I’m also able to play for a great head coach and play caller. We fought until the end against a very good opponent and were able to come out on top. And we’re just going to continue to improve as individuals, but more importantly as a team.”

Meanwhile, Previlma made the most of his first regular season game with Jensen Beach as he returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown in his team’s 28-0 road win over Fort Pierce Central on Aug. 24.

Previlma spoke on his Special Teams Player of the Week honor and more.

“it feels amazing to even have my name for both of the polls,” said Previlma, who was also nominated for Breakout Player of Week 1. “All I wanted was to be known.”

Previlma on his opening kickoff return for a score:

“I caught the ball and I seen an opening,” Previlma said. “It was great blocking. I made a couple of cuts, juked the kicker, and I was off to the races.”

Finally, the two winners from Treasure Coast represented both sides of the ball.

Roberts led the way by scoring on a 20-yard touchdown run early in the first quarter of his team’s 22-8 win over Osecola (Kissimmee), while Josue had eight tackles, two tackles for loss, and three sacks in Treasure Coast’s Week 1 effort.

ANOTHER NOTE: The Treasure Coast weekly superlatives will last from now until all teams have completed their seasons in November or December.
