Breakthrough Player of Week 11: DT Gavin Peacock

LAKE WORTH – Gavin Peacock ended his junior season with a game to remember for Park Vista.

Our Breakthrough Player of Week 11 had 11 tackles (five tackles for loss), two forced fumbles, and one sack in a 17-10 home win over Palm Beach Gardens this past Friday night (Nov. 5).

The first forced fumble for Peacock came with 4:11 in the second quarter, as the Gators (6-4) tried to break away from the Cobras (7-2).

“I just punched the ball out,” the junior defensive tackle and team leader said.

happened in the third quarter.

“I feel like I just did my job and was having fun,” Peacock said.

Park Vista senior quarterback Brock Hansel raved about Peacock’s overall performance on defense against Palm Beach Gardens.

“He’s a great player and has a ton of potential,” Hansel said. “He is our backbone of our defense.”

Park Vista senior athlete Shawn Estiverne spoke of Peacock’s level of leadership that shined through in their final game of the season.

“The whole week of practice he performed the way he said he was going to perform in the game,” Estiverne said. “The leadership he had on us was big, especially him being a junior and knowing that he has one more year left. He wanted to end out this year with a bang.”

Park Vista defensive coordinator Michael Hutch was impressed with Peacock’s high level of focus and determination to have a great game against Palm Beach Gardens.

“He watched film and was prepared mentally and physically to be a dominant force up front,” Hutch said.

In nine full games as a junior, the 6-foot, 225-pound defensive tackle finished the season with 85 tackles, 30 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, 15 quarterback hurries, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, two pass breakups, two blocked field goals, one blocked punt, and one touchdown for Park Vista.

“He’s been one of the most dominant player in the county, if not the state, every game this year,” Hutch said. “Teams will try to double him, but with his relentless motor and quick get off, he constantly disrupts opposing offenses.”
