WELLINGTON – The most impactful play of Week 10 may have come from Aden Haston.

The Palm Beach Central junior defensive lineman played his best game of the season in the Wellington Cup this past Friday night (Oct. 29) against Wellington, as he registered eight tackles (three tackles for loss) in his team’s 17-14 road win.

Of Aden Haston’s eight tackles, the last one could go down as the biggest one of all.

Let us go through the game-clinching play of the Wellington Cup.

On fourth-and-goal from the Palm Beach Central 5-yard line with just 1:45 left, Aden Haston got himself in the right position to make a stop that prevented Wellington from getting a first-and-goal at the 1:41 mark and a possible go-ahead score soon afterward.

Suffice to say, Aden Haston’s tackle sealed the victory for Palm Beach Central (8-0), which ended up winning the District 7-8A title outright. It also sealed our MVP of Week 10 honor for the rising junior.

“It came down to the wire,” Aden Haston said. “We fought as a team. We had a lot of ups and downs, but we came up big at the team. I put my team on my back. I had my brothers’ back to make that big fourth down stop to seal the game.”

Aden Haston spoke more about his level of impact in the Wellington Cup tilt.

“I feel like I was in on a lot of plays,” Aden Haston said. “And when I wasn’t in on a play, I feel that I had some kind of impact on my teammates making a play.”

Palm Beach Central junior quarterback Ahmad Haston touched on what being his cousin’s teammate means to him in this moment.

“I’m just glad I get to play with this man,” Ahmad Haston said. “It’s a dream come true.”

Aden Haston summed up what winning our MVP of Week 10 meant to him.

“It feels good,” Aden Haston said. “But I can’t let it get in the way of the ultimate goal we have as a team.”

NOTE: As the District 7-8A champion, Palm Beach Central has a chance to be selected as the No. 1 overall seed in the Class 8A – Region 2 playoffs. This is another goal for our top-ranked team to reach, along with the possibility of ultimately winning the first state title in school history.
