PALM BEACH GARDENS – Tre’Von Taylor began his high school football journey at Dwyer.
The incoming senior quarterback was originally slated to be the Panthers starting signal-caller last year, but decided to make a transfer move this past summer to Palm Beach Lakes.
Taylor went on to excel for the Rams in 2019, as he threw for 1,897 yards with 26 touchdowns and just four interceptions as a junior. He added 266 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on the ground in 11 games played.
As a result of his rousing success on the field, Taylor has earned the distinction of being the No. 1-ranked quarterback and No. 16 overall player in Palm Beach County. He also has garnered three scholarship offers from Keiser, St. Thomas, and Graceland.
Inspired by doubt – mainly due to his body frame of being listed as a 6-foot, 175-pound quarterback – Taylor wants nothing more than to elevate himself as a senior.
“It’s crazy,” Taylor said this past May. “I feel like I’m definitely overlooked and that keeps me motivated everyday when I train. I just keep that chip on my shoulder, to be honest. I just control the controllable.”
During the coronavirus pandemic, Taylor has been spending a lot of time in training mode. His typical workout regimen has included an assortment of pushups, sit-ups, and footwork drills.
“Getting bigger and faster is the goal for me,” Taylor also said this past May. “I think they (colleges) are scared of my height and weight. I don’t have that top speed for my size. But I’m working on it. I gained 10 pounds since the season ended.”
With that said, Taylor is on the recruiting board. Another amazing fall season from should seal the deal, one would expect.
It will now happen at Dwyer instead of Palm Beach Lakes. Taylor made the decision to transfer back to his first high school last night (Aug. 4).
“I have no comment,” Taylor said. “I’ll show you.”
