WELLINGTON, FLA. – It has come and it has gone, tonight was the annual Wellington Cup game between Palm Beach Central and Wellington High School.

The game in all of its prestige started off with a tribute and a salute to service, among those in attendance were local police, firefighters, and state troopers. This even included a flyover from the sheriffs department helicopter during the national anthem.

Central wasted no time getting started as Chance Routson found Preston Parker for a touchdown to blow the doors open early in the game, giving Central a 7-0 lead.

The duo would find each other again not too much later as the score would be 14-0 in the early stages of the second quarter.

Frankie Vomero, who had a productive day on the ground, ended up dragging half of Wellington’s defense with him into the endzone to put Central 21-0 with four minutes left in the second quarter.

Almost immediately after Vomero’s touchdown, Wellington ended up giving the ball right back to Central, as David Harmon would get a pick-six off the Wellington offense on their first play of the drive.

Wellington finally got their first and only points of the game with 39 seconds left in the 2nd quarter as Johnathan Paul had a beautifully placed pass land in the hands of Nazier Watkins.

Central came out of halftime looking to pickup where they left off as Andrew Ulysee pushed himself across the goal line to extend the Central lead, 35-6 with a little over five and a half minutes left in the third quarter.

The onslaught only continued as Chance Routson would get his third touchdown of the game thanks to a lobbed up pass to Nedrick Boldin in the corner of the endzone, putting the Broncos up 42-6 and hitting the running clock.

With the score being as it was, Central pulled some of their starters back, but even the backups got in on the fun.

With a little over seven and a half minutes left in the 4th quarter, Julian Ayala found Kamare Williams for a touchdown. Central, looking to pour the humiliation on even further, had Matis Gibson take the two-point conversion that successfully went through, putting the game up 50-6.

With tonight’s win, this the tenth matchup in a row that Palm Beach Central has beaten Wellington in.
