Raleigh, NC.- Breaking News: 3-Star TE Preston Douglas announces a FLIP commitment from S. Carolina to NC St., his NIL Representative; Kevin Anderson of ReachNIL tells New Era Prep.
The 6 foot 3 vertical threat from The Benjamin School is one of the most physically imposing players in South Florida, dominating at both TE and EDGE. Douglas’ recruitment process skyrocketed this previous off-season, where he began to rack in numerous P4 offers. South Carolina verbally offered Douglas in late May, and he took an Official Visit to Columbia on June 7. Days later on June 12, Preston verbally committed to the Gamecocks.
As for NC State, the Wolfpack have been around throughout the majority of Douglas’ recruitment process, as they were his 2nd offer on February 9th. When asked about his commitment to NC State, Preston stated:
“Love who loves you. Go Wolfpack, I’m home. AO1”
Film Breakdown:
Preston is one of the premier recruits across South Florida. Standing in at 6 foot 3, Douglas possesses an elite frame that he uses to his advantage. While primarily specializing in contested jump balls, Preston has a solid mastery of the route tree, and is critical in blocking sets. Douglas’ biggest asset is his versatility, being able to dominate on the outside as a receiver, inside at TE or even as an EDGE rusher on defense.
Douglas’ versatility inside his position will be a catalyst for early play time. Throughout his film, Preston shows off the ability to play as a true TE as well as an H-Back. The Wolfpack have shown flexibility in their offensive sets, especially at Tight End. On film, NC State has used their TE’s in blocking sets, lined up from the slot and lined up as a receiver on the outside.
The addition of Preston Douglas immediately elevates NC State’s recruiting class. The Wolfpack now sit inside the Top50 classes (per the 24/7 composite). Preston won’t be the only 561 native making his way to Raleigh, as he joins 3-Star WR Jamar Browder and 3-Star DB Caden Gordon both from Santaluces High.
