Coral Gables, FL.- Is it College Football season yet?
In 2024, a spark of life was injected back into the hearts of all University of Miami football fans. After a few years of average seasons, the program was quickly thrust back into the national spotlight in 2024. Cam Ward and the entire ‘Canes offense lit college football on fire, torching your favorite team’s defense, averaging 537 yards per game. Miami finished the regular season 10-2, (6-0 Home).
Unfortunately, late season road losses to Georgia Tech and Syracuse plummeted the ‘Canes out of ACC Title contention, further eliminating them from the 12-Team College Football Playoff. Miami would go onto face the Iowa State Cyclones in the 2024 PopTarts’ Bowl, dropping that one 42-41 in heartbreaking fashion.
It’s a new era of Miami football. Cam Ward and his four leading targets, and leading rusher: Xavier Restrepo, Jacolby George, Sam Brown, Elijah Arroyo and Damien Martinez have gone onto professional waters, and star receiver Isaiah Horton, who stepped into a WR2 role this year, hit the transfer portal and found himself at Alabama.
Don’t worry friendly reader, It’s not all doom and gloom for the ‘Canes. Miami reloaded with a strong 2025 recruiting class, and a top 10 Transfer Portal class, headlined by the #1 Player in the Portal, QB Carson Beck, and former LSU WR CJ Daniels alongside an arsenal of defensive talents.
While the hype around the Hurricanes is stronger than ever, here’s something the Miami faithful should be overjoyed about:
It was announced earlier this morning that Miami will be hosting 8 home games during the 2025 campaign. The ‘Canes will open the 2025 season at Hard Rock Stadium, facing off against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (8/30), fresh off a National Championship appearance. Miami will then go onto host three more consecutive home games, facing off against the Bethune Cookman Wildcats (9/6), USF Bulls (9/13) and Florida Gators (9/20) at the Rock. Kickoff times still TBA.
Miami will then go on to host the Louisville Cardinals, NC State Wolfpack, Stanford Cardinal and Syracuse Orange later down the stretch in ACC Play. Dates and kickoff time still TBA. Obviously, the ‘Canes will have to take road trips at some point, as they will travel to Florida State, Pitt., SMU and Virginia Tech. Once again, dates and kickoff times are still TBA.
