Our first Monday Night Football of the 2025 season was certainly a good one.
Tonight, the St Andrews Scots traveled 7 minutes down the road to face the St John Paul II Eagles in a district rivalry that’s been dubbed The Battle for Boca. Let’s cut to the chase- it was all Scots from the opening kick, when Notre Dame commit Dylan Faison (’26) found himself dancing in the end zone after a 97 yard kick return touchdown. Unfortunately for Faison and the Scots, the trend setting play was called back due to a block in the back, but it’ll still look very nice on film tomorrow morning.
Luckily for the Scots, the reversed touchdown didn’t take any wind out of their sails- as three plays later QB Jack Williams (’27) connected with Colgate commit TE/DE Quinn Connors (’26) for a 14 yard touchdown. Tonight’s game plan was clearer than day for St Andrews- Take the size advantage and get Quinn Connors the ball. At 6 foot 5, 230 LBs, Connors was a matchup nightmare, posting 5 catches, 83 yards, 2 touchdowns and a 2Pt conversion offensively alongside 2 sacks and 6 tackles tonight on defense.

Following the first Connors score in the first quarter, the Scots’ defense would get involved as LB Luan Herbst would intercept SJP QB Nicholas Pouncey and take it back 57 yards. That wasn’t the only highlight for Coach Gad Jacobs’ defensive corps, as St Andrews front seven would record 4 sacks, numerous TFL’s and apply consistent pressure in the backfield, disrupting the flow of the Johnnies’ offense.
The Scots offense wasn’t just taking trip to Tight End University tonight, as they’d score two rushing touchdowns by way of Remi De’Orsey (’26) (65 yards, 1 TD) and Nathan Perrier (’27). In the final moments of the game, Jack Williams would throw his third touchdown to Boston College commit Wesley Winn (’27), this time going for 23 yards.
That leaves the final touchdown worth noting. Dylan Faison was salty all night that his return touchdown got called back, so he had to get himself another one. After St John Paul finally crossed the endzone after a Pouncey QB keeper, Faison silenced any hopes of a comeback with an 89 yard return touchdown.
St Andrews now advances to 4-0 on the season, riding with their red hot offense. This becomes a difficult week for the Scots, as they immediately shift their focus to prepare for North Broward Prep for their 3rd game in a 7 day span this Friday night.
