Boca Raton, FL.- .8 miles separate two of Palm Beach County’s top high school football teams, and for the first time since 2021, these squads broken up between opposite ends of Jog Road will share the gridiron.
In week 3 of the 2026 Regular Season, the Spanish River Sharks will host the St. Andrews Scots in a Battle for Boca Raton. This cross-town battle will take place under the lights of Thursday Night Football on September 3rd.
Expect a high flying offensive duel between two of Palm Beach’s elite passing offenses. Last season, both St. Andrews and Spanish River boasted 1,000 yard receivers, with the Scot’s 3-Star Boston College commit Wesley Winn and Sharks’ Jayden Elder leading the 561 in receiving.

In year one of the Nick Lasala era of Spanish River, the Sharks would finish the 2025 campaign 7-5, including their first FHSAA 7A District 14 Championship in program history. As for St. Andrews, Scots’ HC Jimmy Robertson is entering his 11th season at the helm of the program, the longest tenured head coach in Palm Beach. The Scots have dominated during Coach Robertson’s time at the helm, with St. Andrews earning three consecutive District Titles since 2023.
The Sharks and Scots last faced off in 2021, where St Andrews would emerge victorious in a dominant 51-0 fashion, fueled by a 6 rushing touchdown performance from RB Bill Young. Following the blowout victory, Young would earn NewEraPrep weekly honors as Breakthrough Player of the Week.

Words from the Coaches
“Well for one I think it’s awesome to be playing against a team that is less than a mile down the street. Similar in a sense that they are accomplishing things in football that that program hasn’t really done before….” Spanish River HC Nick Lasala stated. “They were a 10 win football team for a reason last year and we’re looking forward to the opportunity to host a team of that caliber at home. The Battle for Yamato! “
“We are looking forward to the challenge..We love competition and it’s great to have…” St. Andrews HC Jimmy Robertson shared. “We’ll be tested early on in the season and we need to be. We have a very tough district this year. It’s going be a great game.”
