University of Miami Wide Receiver and South Florida native Malachi Toney was revealed to be featured on the cover of College Football 27 by EA Sports.
Toney is one of three college football athletes to be on the standard edition of the cover, which includes Quarterback Dante Moore (Oregon) and Running Back Kewan Lacy (Ole Miss).
EA Sports also made it known that Toney would be on the Deluxe Cover with 4 more college football players.
Well, why was Malachi Toney chosen? EA Sports said they select their cover athletes because they represent the modern era of college football and are players who draw attention across the sport.
Yet, if we look deeper into Toney’s accomplishments this past season, it all makes sense.
ACC Rookie of the Year (2025), ACC Offensive Rookie of the Year (2025), First-Team All-ACC NCAA receptions leader in 2025, and Miami single-season receiving yards record holder.
In College Football 26, Toney was already one of the highest-rated receivers in the game with a 93 overall rating.
Which means he’ll definitely have an even higher overall in this year’s game, with many expecting it to be in the high 90’s.
“Having this opportunity after only my freshman year means everything to me. I’m incredibly grateful for the support of the Miami community, and this honor of knowing EA believes in what I’m capable of deepens my drive to show up for the program and the fans who have believed in me from day one,” stated Toney.
EA Sports announced that the full gameplay reveal for College Football 27 is scheduled for June 4, 2026, with the game expected to release in July 2026.
