Atlantic entered the matchup with a 4-2 record, while Glades Central came in at 2-4, fighting to clinch its third win of the season.

This was a must-win game for both teams, as neither had been living up to its true potential this season. The matchup was expected to be an interesting one to watch, and it turned out to be just that.

Glades Central held a 3-0 lead through the first quarter and maintained that advantage until the final three minutes of the second quarter, when Atlantic quarterback Nicholas Pouncey connected with Tyler Kelley on a deep touchdown pass to give the Eagles a 7-3 lead heading into halftime.

The defensive battle continued well into the third quarter, as both teams traded punches on defense, refusing to give up ground. The game seemed to hang in the balance for much of the night.

With a little over three minutes remaining in the third quarter, Kendrick Hughes punched it in on a short touchdown run to extend Atlantic’s lead to 14-3.

A holding penalty in the end zone resulted in a safety, giving the Raiders two points and cutting the deficit to 14-5 with 10 minutes remaining in the game.

A tipped pass was intercepted by Atlantic freshman Jeremiah Polusme, swinging the momentum back in favor of the Eagles.

However, the Raiders came alive midway through the fourth quarter when quarterback Tawan Roux scored on a QB sneak. The missed extra-point attempt kept the score at 14-11, with Atlantic holding on to a three-point lead.

Atlantic answered immediately with a kickoff return for a touchdown by Tristan Horne, extending the Eagles’ lead to 21-11 with six minutes remaining. You could feel the air leave the Raiders’ sideline as Atlantic regained control of the game.

With three minutes left, Ethan Hook intercepted a Glades Central pass to seal the Eagles’ 21-11 victory.

Glades Central will look to regroup as the Raiders travel to Boca Raton to take on Spanish River.

Meanwhile, Atlantic will look to extend its winning streak as the Eagles return home to host Boynton Beach.
