JUPITER – Brian LaFrance is making the most of his senior season at Jupiter Christian.
The Eagles standout’s most recent game may have been his most impactful one yet, as he registered five catches for 89 yards and two scores. He also had a rushing touchdown on offense, while adding two interceptions on defense to help his team earn a 45-28 home win over Inlet Grove this past Friday (Oct. 1).
LaFrance took us through his first score and how it actually happened.
“It was before going into the half,” said LaFrance, who received his first offer from Iowa Wesleyan on Oct. 3.
“We had the momentum that we needed,” he continued. “I couldn’t have done it without my teammates and that great play calling by my coaches. I was able to capitalize on the opportunity I was given.”
LaFrance got another touchdown in the second half. He spoke on it.
“Again I would like to thank my teammates for putting us in a great field position on a great drive to the end zone,” he said. “My number was called and I trusted my quarterback (Jorris Shephard) to put it in the right place.”
Jupiter Christian head coach Baz Alfred talked about LaFrance’s performance and how he impacted the game as a whole.
“The kid is working his tail off this season,” Alfred said of LaFrance, who has scored 11 total touchdowns in four games played. “I think he’s one of the Top 10 players in our area. I will put Brian up against anybody in Palm Beach County. He’s going to continue proving that week in and week out. I am that confident in his abilities on the field. I truly believe it, and I know Inlet Grove does now too.”
NOTE: Currently ranked as our No. 3 private school in Palm Beach County; Jupiter Christian (4-0) has a big game tonight (Oct. 7; 7 p.m. kickoff) at Avant Garde Academy (3-0) in Hollywood.
As the Eagles play their toughest game of the season tonight, this tilt will serve as a barometer which will show how far they have come and how much farther they will need to go as a whole.
