Lawrence, KS.– It was all Tigers as Missouri stormed into Lawrence, taking down Kansas in the 2026 Border Showdown.

The Border Showdown is one of College Football’s oldest and most passionate rivalries, with the first contest between Mizzou and Kansas taking place in 1891.  From 1907 to 2012 this was an annual matchup in all sports between the Tigers and Jayhawks, ending after Missouri joined the SEC. The rivalry was renewed during the 2025 season, with scheduled non-conference matchups slated for 2031, and 2032. For the first time since 2001, Missouri downed Kansas on their home turf, extending their narrow series lead to 58-54 with 9 ties.

During the win, South Florida’s finest Austin Simmons showed out, throwing for 292 yards and 3 touchdowns on 19/29 passing. Simmons was electric, finding 6 different pass catchers last night. Per usual, Austin was in sync with his former Ole Miss teammate Cayden Lee, who hauled in 6 catches for 120 yards and a touchdown. Simmons also found the former IMG Academy product Donovan Olugbode for another 6 completions, 121 yards and a score.

The Heisman campaign for Austin Simmons is officially gaining steam. In his first two starts for Missouri, the 6 foot 4 Southpaw has thrown for 544 yards and 7 TD’s on 75% completion. Simmons has been sacked once though two games and hasn’t thrown an Interception, bringing his QBR to 218.
