Florida Atlantic Quarterback Caden Veltkamp was named offensive player of the week in the American Conference on Monday afternoon for his gaudy performance in the Owls win over Navy Saturday evening.
Veltkamp was flawless, notching the second most accurate performance in program history, completing 27 of 32 passes for 386 yards and 5 touchdowns. The 5 touchdowns tied a career high for Veltkamp who spread the wealth to 4 different targets during 38-30 victory.

After two weeks, Veltkamp leads the American in both passing yards with 662 and passing touchdowns with 6, nearly 200 yards and 2 touchdowns ahead of UTSA QB Owen McCown who is second in both statistics. Veltkamp is also 10th nationally in passing yards and tied for 5th in passing touchdowns.
The graduate senior bounced back from his 2 interception performance in Week 1 against Florida by playing turnover free football against Navy, something he had done only once previously against FBS opponents in his Florida Atlantic career.
Up next, the Owls welcome Florida International to Flagler Credit Union Stadium for the 2026 Shula Bowl. The Panthers are off to a 1-1 start and have displayed some offensive firepower in their own right, with Quarterback JJ Kohl currently 8th in the nation with 668 passing yards, which means this rendition of the Shula bowl will feature two top 10 passers in the nation.
