BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. — Football is officially back for Saint Andrew’s.

The Scots opened their 2026 campaign Thursday night with a 28–14 Week 0 victory over Boynton Beach, overcoming an early deficit and getting contributions on both sides of the football in their first live test of the new season.

Boynton Beach struck first and put Saint Andrew’s in an early 7–0 hole, but the Scots never appeared rattled. Senior captain and quarterback Jack Williams (#13) helped settle the offense, responding with a touchdown to even the game and providing the spark Saint Andrew’s needed.

Williams was one of the biggest standouts of the night. The senior showed off his arm while also extending plays with his legs, scrambling away from pressure and making plays when the offense needed them most.

For a Saint Andrew’s team replacing several important pieces from last season’s 10-win squad, Williams’ performance provided an encouraging first look at an offense that will increasingly be his to command.

And while the offense eventually found its rhythm, the Scots’ defense helped change the game.

Jack Whelchel (#4) came away with two interceptions, including a crucial first-half takeaway that gave the offense another possession and helped lead to a Saint Andrew’s score.

Those turnovers proved significant as the Scots turned an early 7–0 deficit into control of the football game.

Wesley Winn (#8) was another major factor throughout the night. The senior wide receiver/defensive back made his presence felt on both sides of the football and once again showed why he enters the season as one of the players to watch for Saint Andrew’s.

Winn’s ability to impact the game in multiple ways will be important for a Scots team entering a significantly more challenging schedule in 2026.

Caden Ranawat (#7) also put together an impressive performance. Ranawat was active on both sides of the ball and consistently found himself around the action, particularly across the middle of the field.

In the trenches, junior guard Oliver Haggerty helped give Williams opportunities to operate. The 6-foot-2, 225-pound lineman was part of a Saint Andrew’s front that settled into the game after Boynton’s quick start and helped the Scots establish control offensively.

Week 0 is ultimately about finding answers before the games begin counting toward the regular-season record, and Saint Andrew’s left Boynton Beach with plenty of positives.

The Scots responded after falling behind.

Their senior quarterback made plays.

Their defense created turnovers.

Veterans made an impact.

And when the game demanded a response, Saint Andrew’s found one.

Now the attention shifts quickly.

The King’s Academy awaits.

Saint Andrew’s travels to face King’s next Friday in what has developed into one of the most anticipated matchups on the early season schedule. The programs have produced competitive games and memorable moments in recent years, and the Week 1 matchup will provide a much different challenge than Thursday’s preseason opener.

After the victory over Boynton Beach, Winn was already thinking about what comes next.

“It is always a huge battle,” Winn said. “We won last year. We’re going to try to do the same thing Friday night.”

For Saint Andrew’s, Thursday was an introduction.

Next Friday, it counts.
