WEST PALM BEACH, FLA – Volleyball is in full swing in the 561 at the Dr. Joaquin Garcia Bulldogs hosted Palm Beach Central Broncos in some Thursday night volleyball action.

Garcia comes in to this game 2-0 with convincing wins over Royal Palm and Atlantic, Central comes in 1-3, with their lone win coming over Lake Worth.

Dr. Joaquin Garcia continued its strong start to the season Thursday night, sweeping Palm Beach Central 3-0 (25-13, 25-22, 25-18).

Garcia jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the opening set before Palm Beach Central began to claw back. The Bulldogs regained control taking the first set 25-13. Elsheema Saintyl came up with several big plays throughout the set to help Garcia take an early lead.

Palm Beach Central came out strong in the second set, jumping ahead 6-3. The set remained close throughout, with sophomore Savannah Andrade-Guthrie recording a key kill to bring the Broncos within one at 23-22. Garcia closed out the set, 25-22, to take a 2-0 advantage.

The third set was the most competitive throughout, but Garcia maintained control. After a long rally, senior Lucia Eaton delivered the game-winning kill, one of several big moments from the senior throughout the match. Garcia finished off the sweep with a 25-18 third-set victory.

With the win, Garcia improves to 3-0 on the season and has dropped just one set through its first three matches. The Bulldogs are continuing their pursuit of a fourth consecutive district championship after winning every district title since the school opened its doors in 2023.

Garcia will begin a three game road trip Monday at Jupiter Christian, while Palm Beach Central falls to 1-4 and will host Dreyfoos School of the Arts Monday.
