One of the best defensive tackles in Florida, and the country as a whole, has made his college decision.
Tyler Alexander, a standout for Palm Beach Central, committed to the University of Texas on Tuesday, June 23rd. He chose the Longhorns over Georgia, Notre Dame, and Colorado. Alexander took official visits to all four of his finalists, with his Texas visit occurring on June 19th.

Asked by Rivals about his commitment, Alexander dove into the different aspects that made Texas stand apart from the rest of his finalists.
“I chose Texas because of the brotherhood. The locker room culture is different. They made me feel like family, like I was already a part of them…Austin felt like a second home. It feels like Florida, and I fell in love with the city. Wearing that burnt orange and icy white just felt right. It made me feel proud. It made me feel like I was part of something great.”
The defensive lineman also spoke glowingly about the Texas coaching staff and the ability of the team to compete at the highest level.
“I love the staff over there. (Kenny) Baker, (Kwahn) Drake, (Will) Muschamp, and Steve Sarkisian are all incredible men. I want to play for them and be coached by them…I know Texas will be winning national championships over the next decade, and I want to be a part of that. I want a run at the Natty.”

An imposing presence on the defensive line, Alexander racked up 20 tackles for loss for Palm Beach Central in 2025, along with 2.5 sacks. He is strong at the point of attack, has the strength to rip past blockers, and has the quickness + burst to get into the backfield early in plays. This past spring, I was very impressed with not only how Alexander defended the run at a high level, but also how he used his hands as a pass rusher. He seemed to have a plan of attack, something that should only help him have more success in 2026.
I am sky-high on Alexander’s potential and floor as a player, and I think he will have a great 2026 season for Palm Beach Central. Texas added a great talent from the state of Florida, and once he arrives on campus in Austin, I think he could make a nice impact for the Longhorns.
