The Future of the 561: Teddy Hoffman, WR Saint Andrews

BOCA RATON – “Saint Andrew’s is the most underrated team in Palm Beach County.”

That is the message I’ve been preaching since the end of spring ball. I truly believe that the Scots are going to be special in 2023. The biggest selling point to me:

Teddy Hoffman

Teddy Hoffman (’25) is one of the most versatile players throughout Palm Beach County.

Listed as ATH, he can play wide receiver and defensive back at the highest level.

Hoffman is able to pair his 6-foot-1 size with a quick release off the line, crisp and shifty route running and magnets for hands. If the ball is thrown in Hoffman’s radius, I guarantee he’s reeling it in.

Hoffman will be an absolute nightmare for opposing defenses throughout the 2023 season.

Also, Hoffman’s character on and off the field is held in very high regard by members of his coaching staff. When asked about Hoffman as a player and person, St. Andrews defensive coordinator Gad Jacobs said:

“He’s fluid, fast and has great hands and has the mindset and mentality,” Jacobs said. “He always wants to compete against the best. Everyday before and after practice, he’s catching extra passes or route running.”

Jacobs had more to say about Hoffman

“As a young man, he’s relatable, humble and respectful. At Saint Andrew’s it’s so much more important to us to develop good young men who are prepared to lead their families and their communities,” Jacobs said. “Teddy checks every box. I’m so excited for his future.”

Hoffman shows the same love and appreciation towards his coaching staff. When asked about his relationship with head coach Jimmy Robertson and Jacobs, Hoffman said:

“I think that Coach Robertson is a great coach, but most importantly a great man,” Hoffman said. “The lessons that he taught me has made me a better man off the field and on the field. He pushes you to be great everyday in the classroom and on the field.”

Hoffman didn’t stop there.

“Coach Gad Jacobs really helps us to be great every day and get the most out of us,” Hoffman said. “He runs the defense and makes sure everyone is doing their job. He’s a really big part of our coaching staff.”

During his sophomore season, Hoffman recorded:

•54 receptions
•862 receiving yards
•15 receiving touchdowns
•26 total tackles
•1 interception
•1 fumble recovery

When asked about his sophomore season, Hoffman said:

“I was very happy with the season I had last year,” Hoffman said. “I put up numbers that put me in a position to really be recognized nationally and locally. I think our season as a team was good, but due to some big injuries, it really held us back.”

After his sophomore season, Hoffman received offers from Akron, Eastern Kentucky and UMass, as well as interest from Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Florida State, Pitt, and UConn.

Despite his recruiting process starting to pick up, Teddy knows the job isn’t finished yet. When asked about his goals for his upcoming junior season, he said:

“My individual goals are to have at least 1,000 yards receiving and 20 touchdowns,” Hoffman said. “Our team’s goal is to win the district and win a playoff game for the first time in school history, which I think is a really realistic goal for us this season.”

I believe this is a very attainable goal for Hoffman. This is primarily due to the addition of a new quarterback, Dylan Mayers (’24).

When asked about the chemistry between him and Mayers, Hoffman said:

“Despite only having him for about a month, mine and Dylan’s chemistry is very advanced,”Hoffman said. “He’s a great quarterback. He knows how to read the field and doesn’t force anything. At the FAU 7-on-7, we scored almost every drive. Both of us are very excited for this year and are going to put up crazy numbers.”

Hoffman is going to lead the Scots in a charge to take Palm Beach County by storm in 2023. Everyone needs to wake up and realize that before it’s too late.
