DETROIT, MI- “With the second pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Washington Commanders select: Jayden Daniels, Quarterback, LSU.”

The Washington Commanders have finally found their franchise quarterback! The Commanders have landed the most recent Heisman Trophy winner, Jayden Daniels from LSU.

During his five year collegiate career, Jayden Daniels statistically improved every season. Daniels spent his first three seasons at Arizona State, where he had a solid career. Following the 2021 season, Jayden announced his intention to transfer to Louisiana State University. In this same off-season, LSU hired former Notre Dame head coach, Brian Kelly to be the Tigers new head coach.

Over the next two seasons, the pairing of Kelly and Daniels showed to be one of the elite coach/player combinations in college football. In his first year at LSU, Jayden Daniels led the Tigers to a 10-4 record, capping his inaugural season off with a Cheez-it Bowl victory over Purdue. At the season’s end, Daniels recorded 2,913 yards and 17 touchdowns through the air, 885 yards and 10 touchdowns rushing.

While the 2022 season was special, Jayden Daniels exploded during his final year of eligibility. Jayden Daniels broke out in 2023, taking his game to another level in a season matched by none. During the 2023 season, Jayden recorded 3,812 yards and 40 touchdowns passing, 1,134 yards and 10 touchdowns rushing. The most impressive part of Jayden’s senior season was he only threw 4 interceptions. This elite stat line secured Daniels the 2023 Heisman Trophy, garnering 503 first place votes.

Like the Chicago Bears, Washington has also found themselves in a QB hell since 2010. Since the beginning of the 2010 season, the Washington Commanders have started 18 different starting quarterbacks. The Washington faithful have been longing to find a true franchise starter.

On day one, Jayden Daniels will be gifted an elite, underrated receiver in Terry McLaurin. Daniels will also be targeting the veteran tight end Zach Ertz, and a dynamic receiving back in Austin Ekeler.

Washington’s next pick will be early in the second round at pick 36.
