ORLANDO, FLA – Timber Creek hosted Colonial for its 2026 Kickoff Classic. Both programs under newer head coaches. As Timber Creek’s Reggie Cox steps into his second year as head coach and Colonial’s Austin Rocheleau steps into his third. This game has historically been a district game, but that changed this year with Colonial’s pivot to the FHSAA independent league.
Timber Creek won the toss and chose to receive. The Wolves wasted little time getting on the board. RB Jermaine Washington’s legs led the Wolves to an opening-drive touchdown and a 7-0 lead, and Timber Creek never looked back.
Colonial went three-and-out on its first drive and punted the ball back to Timber Creek. QB Alec Worden then found Hanoj Williams in the end zone for another Timber Creek touchdown.
After another Colonial punt, Washington broke loose for a run of more than 50 yards for another touchdown. Timber Creek took a 21-0 lead with 3:29 left in the first quarter.
Washington stayed hot and scored again on a 54-yard touchdown run, putting Timber Creek up 28-0. Carter VanArnam also made several big defensive plays en route to shutting out the Grenadiers.
A Colonial fumble gave Timber Creek another chance to score. Conner Mullins connected with Harper Benton for a touchdown on the first play of the drive, giving the Wolves a 35-0 halftime lead.
In a running clock second half, Alec Worden scored on a rushing touchdown late in the third quarter after a long Timber Creek drive. QB Spencer Logsdon later added another rushing touchdown.
Timber Creek finished the night with a 48-0 win over Colonial, putting together a strong performance on both sides of the ball.
The Wolves’ offense, led by Coach Zach Barrett, son of Texans assistant coach Danny Barrett, made explosive plays all night to find the end zone, led by Jermaine Washington’s 3 touchdowns. Defensively, Coach Cox’s unit made it hard for the Grenadiers to get past the line of scrimmage, ultimately leading to the shutout with big plays throughout the night.
Colonial is set to travel to Olympia for Week 1, before opening their new stadium against Cypress Creek in Week 2.
Timber Creek looks to build off of this game as they travel to the county’s newest school, Innovation, for their Week 1 matchup with the Bulls.
