South Florida Stars Lead the OT7 Defensive Player of the Year Race

South Florida has always been known for producing elite football talent, and this OT7 season proved it once again. Two names stood above the rest on the defensive side of the ball, Amir Sears and Zayden Gamble. Both defenders represented South Florida with intensity, confidence, and lockdown coverage every time they stepped on the field.

First up, Amir Sears, the number one player in the Class of 2028 for a reason. The South Florida standout spent the entire OT7 season proving why he’s considered one of the best young defensive backs in the country. Week after week, Sears lined up against elite receivers and completely shut down opposing offenses. His speed, instincts, and ability to make plays on the football made quarterbacks avoid his side of the field. More than just talent, Sears brought energy that made him one of the most feared defenders in OT7.

Next is Zayden Gamble, another South Florida defensive star who may be the most underrated player at OT7. While he may not always get the same national attention, Gamble’s performance spoke for itself. He was strapping up everybody throughout the season and played a major role in helping Raw Miami win their conference. His physicality, competitive mindset, andconsistency made him one of the toughest defenders to compete against. Every game, the Notre Dame commit Gamble showed he could match up with top talent and make game-changing plays.

Both Amir Sears and Zayden Gamble carried the South Florida football reputation with pride this season. Their performances showed why South Florida continues to be one of the top football regions in the country, especially when it comes to producing elite defensive backs.
