Florida Atlantic Men’s Basketball and head coach John Jakus have had what will probably be their biggest non-conference game officially confirmed for the 2026-27 season.

On December 12th, The Owls will travel up to Orlando to take on the VCU Rams, in what will be the second game of a doubleheader as part of the Hall of Fame Series Orlando held at the KIA Center, home to the NBA’s Orlando Magic.

“It’s an incredible honor for Florida Atlantic to be invited to play in the Hall of Fame Series Orlando,” said head coach John Jakus. “VCU is a great program, and this is certainly a special matchup of two programs that have experienced historic Final Four seasons.”

FAU is coming off back-to-back 18-win seasons under Jakus, following back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Tournament, including a run to the Final Four in 2023 during the Dusty May era.

For VCU, who is led by head coach Phil Martelli Jr., the Rams are coming off a March Madness berth of their own, having advanced to the second round of the tournament as an 11-seed, following a historic 19-point comeback versus 6-seeded North Carolina in round one.

December’s matchup between the Owls and the Rams will be the two programs’ fifth meeting all-time, with this matchup taking place almost five full years after the two teams’ last matchup in 2021, where VCU handled FAU 66-46. The Owls have yet to grab victory against the Rams, trailing the all-time series 4-0.

Florida Atlantic Men’s Basketball will look to build on 36 combined wins in the past two seasons, and this neutral-site battle with a very established program in VCU will prove to be a great contest and greater Quad-1 challenge for head coach John Jakus.
