This past weekend, Florida Atlantic rounded out their 2027 High School recruiting class in style hosting yet another very successful Official Visit weekend.
One of the newest priority additions for Zach Kittley and Co. in his first true recruiting cycle came with the pledged commitment from Glades Central’s star defensive back Daryl ‘DJ’ Goring.
Following his commitment, DJ Goring was all smiles as he reflected upon the final parts of his recruitment process:
“The whole process was crazy but I stayed patient and trusted God. FAU stood out because the coaches kept it real with me from day one. It never felt forced they showed love to me and my family and I could really see myself there. I could see the vision they had for the program and my future.“
Goring added that relationships and an opportunity to stay local and put on a show in his home county meant more than any other program had to offer
“My relationship with Coach YoYo (AJ Fenelus, DB’s Coach), Coach {Brett} Dewhurst, and Coach Kittley is strong because they’ve been real with me throughout the entire process…When they said they were going to get me up on campus, they made it happen. They care about me as a person. What makes the staff special is the family atmosphere they have created. Everyone is connected and you can tell they want to see their players succeed in football and life.”
“It means a lot being able to stay close to my family while representing South Florida is a blessing. My family has supported me so knowing they’ll be able to come watch me play is special. I’m proud to represent my community and show the young guys from my area they can achieve their goals too.”

The 5 foot 10 Goring has been an absolute show stopper for the Glades Central Raiders. DJ Goring recorded 80 tackles, 2 INT, 1 Pick 6, 2 Sacks, 1 Forced Fumble, 1 Fumble recovery defensively for the Raiders defense, while accumulating an extra 262 yards and 2 scores as Glades Central’s primary punt returner. Glades Central’s stout defensive front would help neutralize opposing offenses, as the Raiders from the Muck would go 10-2 in 2025, including 4 shut outs and a 14-0 lashing against cross town rival Pahokee in the Muck Bowl. Daryl was a 2x Sun Sentinel First Team All County selection and finished inside the NewEraPrep Post Season Top 20 for the Class of 2027 ranking.

Following his pledged commitment, I closed my interview with DJ the same way I end any one related to commitments: What can Florida Atlantic fans expect out of you on and off the field, as a football player and as a young man? This is what DJ had to say:
“As a football player they getting someone who going to compete every day, work hard and do whatever it takes to help the team win. As a young man they are getting someone who values family, respect the people around him and stay committed to his goals. I’m excited to get to work.“
